Western Australia border rules tightened as Northern Territory elevated to high risk

WA has tightened border restrictions with the Northern Territory with just a few hours notice.

The Northern Territory will be elevated to a ‘high risk’ jurisdiction from 12:01am on Sunday morning, an upgrade on existing “medium risk” rules.

The decision comes after the NT recorded 594 cases today.

Under the ‘high risk’ settings, anyone entering from the NT will have to self-quarantine for 14 days, be double dose vaccinated against COVID-19 (if eligible), and get tested for COVID-19 within 24 hours of arrival and on days five and 13.

These rules are more severe than “medium risk” restrictions, and require all people sharing a premises with the incoming traveller to also quarantine for 14 days.
