Sadio Mane showed his respect towards teammate Mohamed Salah Liverpool’s Africa Cup of Nations stars announced their return to the Premier League by inspiring their side to a 3-1 win over struggling Norwich City.

Mane’s overhead kick levelled the score after Milot Rashica’s deflected shot gave the Canaries a surprise lead.

Salah then netted his 150th Liverpool goal with a clever shot that wrong-footed the defence before a maiden goal for January signing Luis Diaz wrapped up all three points for the home side.

But Mane’s gesture towards his Liverpool teammate proved the respect the Senegalese forward has for Salah.

It comes as AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho sent his thoughts on Liverpool’s Champions League last-16 tie against Inter Milan.

Mourinho’s Liverpool view

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho has given his assessment of Liverpool’s Champions League win over Serie A rivals Inter Milan.

Goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah handed Liverpool control of the Champions League tie ahead of the second leg at Anfield, and it appears the ‘Special One’ watched the game.

Speaking ahead of his side’s match against Verona on Saturday Mourinho claimed that he no longer watches big matches if they don’t involve his side.

But it appears he did take the time to see two of last week’s Champions League ties, as he gave a stinging criticism of Paris Saint-Germain’s match against Real Madrid, and reserved nicer praise for Liverpool’s performance in Italy.

Norwich talking points

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool closed the gap on Premier League leaders Manchester City as they claimed three points with a 3-1 win over Norwich City.

There were a couple of surprises in the Liverpool line-up as Klopp surprised his opponents with his choice of full-backs, and rested his stars ahead of the Carabao Cup final next Sunday.

While Salah and Mane stole the show, there was also yet another encouraging performance from new signing Luis Diaz.

Mane’s incredible gesture

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane showed just how much respect he has for teammate Mohamed Salah at the club’s Premier League clash with Norwich City.

The game provided Mane with his Anfield homecoming following his Africa Cup of Nations victory over Salah’s Egypt.

Mane’s penalty ensured his country could lift the trophy for the first time in its history, and also meant Salah wasn’t able to step up and take his country’s fifth spot-kick in the shootout.

But Mane made a special request of his club ahead of the tie to show the regard he holds his teammate in.
