Grim discovery as man’s body found at rural Queensland school over Anzac long weekend

A body was found in the grounds of a rural Queensland school over the Anzac Day long weekend, authorities have said.

The man, aged in his 40s, was discovered deceased at Kingaroy State High School on Monday about 12pm.

A Queensland Police spokesman confirmed the death was not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The Courier Mail reported a child found the body during Anzac Day services.

In a letter to parents, school principal David Thomson said it was not believed the man had any connection to the school.

“As you are aware we are focussed on providing a safe and secure learning environment and continuing to deliver the best education possible,” Mr Thomson wrote.

“The safety and welfare of your children continues to be the highest priority for the school.

“Their wellbeing will not be compromised in any way.”
