ENG 31/4 (12.0 ov, Joe Root 12*, Ben Stokes 2*, Pat Cummins 0/14) – Stumps – Australia vs England 3rd Test Match Live Score, Summary

Wow, what an hour that was! Joe Root survives to stumps but England barely. You won’t see better fast bowling than that passage of play. Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc immense, then capped off by a double-wicket over from Scott Boland. Australia have all-but secured the Ashes with that burst. Feels a long time that James Anderson bowled them back into the game. England are still 51 runs behind with six wickets in hand. Hard to see how this game doesn’t end tomorrow, Covid-permitting of course. There was that drama to start the day and we await the results of today’s PCR Tests on the England squad. For now, though, we need to reflect on that performance from the Australia quicks. And some amazing scenes at the MCG. We’ll have analysis and reaction for you over the next few hours. There’s two BBL games tonight if you want more live cricket and the second day’s play between South Africa and India, although the weather doesn’t sound good there. For now, though, I’m off for a little lie down. From Gnasher and Miller goodbye and we’ll see you tomorrow. Thanks for your company.

Cummins to Root, 3 runs, full at off stump, driven straight down the ground through mid-on…well played by the England captain
